I get giddy over Art Deco offerings. Each one is. an expression of wearable art. It aligned with Art, Design, Architecture, Color Palettes, linear lines and many more. it offered the design teams of any manufacturing industry to work outside the lines. The watch with its beautiful carved relief octagon bezel pushed the boundaries or ordinary. They are a form of expression for the designer.

My shop was recently selected to supply vintage American watches for a premier movie starring some major actors and a world famous director. They were looking for authentic watches that would represent the time period from 1915-1926. It is a true story of events that took place during the 1920’s. This watch would of been perfect for the film. It was nonimated for 10 Academy Awards, it was called Flowers Of The Killer Moon. a beautiful but sad story of the time period of this watch.

This watch is the epitome of the wristwatch transition period. What role did it play? The “Trench Watch” begun the Wrist Watch as we know it. You see, pocket watch movements in sizes 6/0, 3/0, 0 and 6 size were repurposed for the fledgling wrist watch. It had gained social acceptance during 1914 or late 1918, the wrist watch design exploded with the USA, This watch is using a repurposed 15 jewel watch movement from 1918, this is a mid 1920s vintage in styling.

Have you noticed a unusal design element about this treasure. It is an unconventional engineering touch……. notice the second hand is located at 9 o’clock position, most unusual.

I have been an avid vintage watch collector for years. My soft spot is 1900-1940 American watches.

Art Deco, my favorite time period for vintage wrist watches, (pun intended) This offering is one "Rare Bird" Why. Read below! ( That is a tease to get you to read more )

The ones that I do not wear very much get sold for other watches that may be hard to find. All my watches for sale are in above average condition, some are pristine. I pride myself in offering the best quality and reasonable prices. Remember, "Price is what you pay, value is what you get".

This is an unusual case as it has Art Deco all over it. ! The carved motiff lugs have been designed into the case so it creates a seamless look. This is a thoughtful element.

Think 1920’s ! Think Art Deco! Think Great Batsby! ! This is what I am offering. What is you see is a 1920s Elgin Art Deco Treasure. This treasure has had the following taken care of

The case was professionally untrasonically cleaned, hand polished and black enamel where missing was thoughtfully applied \

Custom made alligator black 16MM black band. Notice the high relief alligator pattern within the strap

    Compreneshive tear down mechanical service

Dial and hands profesionally refinished back to its original status

Case was gently polished and black antiquing applied to the relief of the case

This case is 14 karat white gold-filled. For its age, it’s in remarkable condition. For accuracy sake, there is a tiny nibble on the case back.

This is a most unusual case design as the lugs of the watch have been incorporated with the same design motiff into the case. You do not see the traditional lug design. This is one of the deign highlights of this watch

Art Deco: Art Deco, sometimes referred to as Deco, is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. It influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, movie theatres, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and vacuum cleaners. It took its name, short for Arts Décoratifs, from the Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925.

    The case measures:

    From 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock 27.30MM

    From Lug to Lug 34.75MM
